Design Eileen Gray

The Bibendum chair is captivatingly harmonious despite its size and unites a majestic impressiveness with charm and esprit like no other leather armchair. Eileen Gray underscored the character of her design with sly irony: she named it after the Michelin man, whose form this armchair calls to mind.

The chair is composed of a chromed or black lacquered steel tube structure in a "U" shape and a comfortable seat, padded with polyurethane, polyester wadding and covered with fabric or leather. Eileen Gray is one of the first to use tubular steel structures, much like other designers such as Marcel Breuer and Charlotte Perriand.
